To our Extension family far and wide,

It is with heavy hearts that we write to you during this time. With the events in our nation right now, we want to assure you that we are here for you!

It’s impossible for us to know what everyone is going through right now both professionally and personally. We realize while we are all experiencing tough times, our life experiences make this a different journey for each and every one of us. Know that North Carolina A&T State University and NC State University are here to support you during these difficult times. If you need to talk to somebody, please reach out to a supervisor or somebody else with whom you feel comfortable.

Please take a few minutes to read the statements below from Chancellor Harold Martin Sr. of N.C. A&T, Chancellor Randy Woodson of NC State and Vice Provost Sheri Schwab of NC State, in response to the inhumane death of George Floyd following numerous instances of violence against people of color:

In the words of Vice Provost Schwab, “let us all stand together as we work to build a just and inclusive community, one that does not tolerate unjust or inhumane treatment, and that denounces it, clearly and loudly, when we witness it anywhere in the world.”

And as Chancellor Martin wrote, “let us all rise to the challenges of this moment so that minds, hearts, policies and practices are forever altered in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death.”

Resources are available for employees who may be struggling during this time. For N.C. A&T employees, the university’s Employee Assistance Program services provider, ComPsych Guidance Resources, is here for you at 866-511-3373, password: NCAT. This service is confidential and free to employees.

For NC State employees, if you need additional resources or if you just need to talk to somebody else, please take advantage of our Faculty & Staff Assistance Program. This is a university-sponsored program that is confidential and free for employees.
