Hydroponics, a method of growing plants using water, hence“hydro”, the youth will build hydroponics planters using inexpensive items,identify seeds and the germination process, differentiate plant growth in soilversus water, identify careers in agribusiness and utilize science methods toobserve, measure and record their plants’ findings. Seed growth will includelettuce and spinach. This is a seven-week process that begins with hands-onlearning, planting, weekly observations and recordings onto graphs, hypothesis,and maintaining the plants. Through this project, youth will utilize scientificskills of observation, clarifying, measuring and using numbers, makinginferences, predicting and communicating.

Iris are easy to grow,disease resistant, and very well suited to the Hoke and Scotland County area. Learn about the differences between bearded,beardless, and bulbous varieties of Iris.
