An interactive, educational and fun day for NC 4-H volunteers to learn and enhance their skills and talents to share with youth and families in their communities.

Description: Youth, ages 5-14. $5 nonrefundable fee-covers materials, tools and snacks.

One Monday of each month, Scotland County 4-H will host a workshop for youth, ages 5-14 (unless otherwise noted) at the Scotland County Cooperative Extension Center.

Who doesn't love playing games with family and friends? In an interactive learning environment in which individuality is encouraged, youth will "UPcycle" caps, fabric and paint to create a personalized checkers/chess board game to take home to share with family.

Each workshop is $5 nonrefundable and must be paid 2 weeks prior to each class. The cost will cover materials, tools and snacks.

To register, complete the registration form and submit with payment to the Scotland County Cooperative Extension Center, 231 East Cronly Street, Suite 800, Laurinburg, NC 28352.

Description: Casualty Loss and Income Tax Deductions Related to Timber and Landscape Trees
Timber or landscape trees destroyed by recent fires, hurricanes or other storms are “casualty losses” that may allow the property owners to take a deduction on their federal income tax returns. To help timber owners, as well as home owners, who suffered timber or landscape tree damages with their tax reporting, this webinar will focus on the new tax law changes that Congress passed in 2017 that affect the casualty loss deductions starting in the 2018 tax year.

Description: One Saturday of each month, Scotland County 4-H will host a science, technology, engineering and mathematics workshop for youth, ages 5-11 (unless otherwise noted) at the Scotland County Cooperative Extension Center.

Coding...algorithm...design...build...create. These are terms we hear when we learn about robots, software and programming. Using the WeDo Lego kit and a hands-on approach, youth will become engineers and work in teams in STEM combining the LEGO brick, software to build, program and create a WeDo character.

Each workshop is $5 nonrefundable and must be paid 2 weeks prior to each class. The cost will cover materials, tools and snacks.
