2025 South Central District 4-H Teen Retreat Recap!

This past weekend, 4-H teens from across the state came together for an unforgettable overnight experience at the South Central District 4-H Teen Retreat! From interactive workshops to leadership development and social fun, our teens had the opportunity to build friendships, develop new skills, and engage in the democratic process.

One of the highlights of the retreat was the district officer elections, where 4-Hers campaigned for leadership roles, shared their platforms, and engaged in Q&A sessions with their peers. Gage stepped up to the challenge, running for Vice-President with his inspiring theme, "Turn the Page with Gage." While he didn't take home the win this year, his campaign was strong, and we are proud of his courage and leadership!

The retreat also featured engaging workshops, including the Cultural Engagement session, where teens explored life in Malawi, East Africa. With over 50% of the country living in poverty, Malawian youth must be resourceful in their play. Our 4-Hers embraced this challenge by using everyday materials—boxes, paper, and bags—to create their own toys and games. They even got to try guava, a fruit popular in Malawi!

Beyond the fun, events like these prepare teens for the real world by fostering leadership, networking, and civic engagement. Through running for office, building connections, and experiencing new cultures, 4-Hers gain confidence, communication skills, and a global perspective—key tools for future success!

Here's to another amazing year of growth, leadership, and making a difference through 4-H!
